Description

Introduction

Freemax Maxus 100W Vape Kit: a single-battery sub-ohm mod with the Fireluke 3 resin tank, 5 to 100W, two 904L mesh coils in the box, £29.99. Best for direct-to-lung vapers who want big flavour from a mod that fits one hand. Not ideal if you want a tight cigarette-style draw or a built-in battery.

This is the original Maxus 100W with the Fireluke 3 tank, not the later Maxus Solo 100W, which uses the Fireluke Solo tank and FL coils. The coils do not cross over. It runs a 21700, 20700 or 18650 cell, and the battery is sold separately.

Key Facts

The Freemax Maxus 100W outputs 5 to 100W from one 21700, 20700 or 18650 battery.

The Freemax Maxus 100W uses SmartLoad, so the battery works whichever way round it goes in.

The Freemax Maxus 100W ships with the Fireluke 3 Resin Edition tank at 2ml (UK TPD).

The Freemax Maxus 100W box includes a 904L X2 Mesh 0.2 ohm coil and a 904L X1 Mesh 0.15 ohm coil.

Battery: external 21700, 20700 or 18650, sold separately. An 18650 adapter sleeve is in the box.

Output: 5 to 100W, 0.7 to 7.5V. Headroom for every Fireluke 3 coil without running the chip flat out.

Coils supplied: 0.2 ohm X2 dual mesh fitted, 0.15 ohm X1 spare. Freemax rates both at 40 to 80W, best near 70W.

Tank: Fireluke 3 Resin Edition, 2ml TPD, slide-to-fill top cap. Three steel balls stop the cap from sliding open in a pocket.

Airflow: adjustable bottom ring, direct-to-lung only. There is no MTL setting.

Charging: USB-C at 5V/2A, cable included. Freemax publishes no charge time figure.

Pick Your Inhale: a DTL sub-ohm kit

Direct-to-lung (DTL) means a wide, open draw straight to the lungs with a warm cloud, the way most 100W box mod kits are used. The Maxus 100W does that and nothing else. The 0.2 ohm X2 coil is the all-rounder: 50 to 65W for the best flavour-to-warmth balance. The 0.15 ohm X1 runs hotter at 60 to 80W and makes the denser cloud. For a tight mouth-to-lung draw, look at the Freemax pod kits instead.

Key Features

SmartLoad battery tray: drop the cell in either way round and the mod sorts polarity itself.

904L mesh with tea-fibre cotton: Freemax COILTECH 4.0 coils are why this tank is still rated for flavour.

Coils and E-Liquid Pairing for the Fireluke 3

Sub-ohm mesh wants thick, low-nicotine liquid. Use a 70/30 or higher VG shortfill at 3mg or 0mg; 6mg is the ceiling above 60W. Thin 50/50 liquid floods the wide wicking ports and leaks. Sweet dessert liquids gunk mesh faster than fruit or menthol. Nic salts are not for this kit.

Battery Life, Coil Life and Running Cost

A 3000mAh 21700 at 60 to 70W gives most people a full day; Versed Vaper got close to two days at 70W. Coil life reported on the Planet of the Vapes forum is about a week of everyday use, with some owners pushing 25ml through a coil before flavour dropped. Fireluke 3 coils on VOS are £13.95 for five, so a coil a week is about £2.79, plus roughly £2.40 for 20ml of a £11.99 shortfill.

Compatibility and Refills

The Fireluke 3 takes the full Freemax 904L X mesh coil range: X1 0.15 ohm, X2 0.2 ohm, X2 0.5 ohm (20 to 50W), X3 0.15 ohm (50 to 90W) and X4 0.15 ohm. Freemax also lists the older Fireluke 2 and Twister TX mesh coils as a fit. Fireluke Solo FL coils (Maxus Solo) do not fit.

How to Set Up the Maxus 100W

Open the battery door, drop in a wrapped 21700 (or an 18650 inside the adapter) either way round, and close it.

Unscrew the tank base and put two or three drops of liquid on each cotton port of the fitted 0.2 ohm coil.

Slide the top cap open, fill the 2ml tank from the side port, close it and wait 10 to 15 minutes.

Click the fire button five times to switch on, check it reads 0.2 ohm, and set 50W.

Take three or four short draws with airflow open, then settle between 50 and 65W.

How to make it last longer

Refill before the liquid drops below the wicking ports; a 2ml tank goes dry fast at 70W.

Never fire a coil above 80W, whatever the mod allows.

Freemax Maxus 100W Price UK

As of October 2026, the Maxus 100W is £29.99 at Vampire Vape (down from £36.99), £36.99 at Total Vapour and £37.99 at Vapesourcing UK; Vape Club lists it as discontinued. VOS matches the lowest live price at £29.99. Versus the Geekvape Aegis S100 Solo 2 on VOS, the Maxus is cheaper to buy, but its coils cost more per pack.

Freemax Maxus 100W FAQ

Is FreeMax a reliable vape brand?

Yes. Freemax has made tanks since 2013, and the Fireluke range is one of the UK’s longest-running sub-ohm lines. Planet of the Vapes reviewers rated the Maxus 100W highly; the gripes are paint wear and loud airflow, not failures.

What is the best 100W vape mod?

For a single 21700, the usual shortlist is the Maxus 100W, Geekvape Aegis S100 Solo 2 and Voopoo Drag X Plus. The Maxus wins on price and tank flavour; the Aegis on drop and water protection. See the full range of vape mods UK.

How long do FreeMax coils usually last?

About a week of daily use on the 0.2 ohm X2, longer on fruit or menthol, shorter on sweet dessert liquids. POTV forum owners report 25ml or more per coil when the tank stays topped up, and wattage stays under 70W.

Why isn’t my FreeMax vape working?

Check that the battery is charged and seated, the mod is on (five clicks), and the coil is screwed fully home so the mod reads its resistance. A “no atomizer” message almost always means a loose coil or a dirty 510 pin.

Do I need to buy a battery for the Freemax Maxus 100W?

Yes, no cell is included. A 3000mAh 21700 is the best match; an 18650 works with the adapter at roughly half the run time. Choose a wrapped high-drain cell from the 18650 and 21700 battery range.

Does the Fireluke 3 tank leak?

Not when filled correctly. POTV owners trace most leaks to thin 50/50 liquid, a cross-threaded coil or tilting a near-empty tank. Use 70% VG or higher, seat the coil firmly and keep liquid above the ports.

Is the Maxus 100W the same as the Maxus Solo 100W?

No. The Freemax Maxus Solo 100W is a later kit with the Fireluke Solo tank and FL coils. This kit uses the Fireluke 3 and 904L X coils; the coils are not interchangeable.
